This is the official call for entries for the Spring 2002 Super 8 Film Festival. Here's the info: Saturday, May 11, 4 - 6pm at the Echo Park Public Library (filmmakers will need to be there at 3pm). Echo Park is located in the Los Angeles area..
The space seats 100 people and there should be a good turn out. A reception follows the screening, so invite everyone you know. You can either submit a film you completed for class or something new. Projects can be completed on video but must be shot on Super 8. Let me know ASAP if you are still planning on submitting work. By Monday, April 29, I need to know the following info:
1. The name of the film you'll be showing (and if it's a new project or one
of your class films).
2. The format on which it will be shown (Super 8, miniDV, or VHS).
3. The running time of the film.
4. A brief description of the film.
5. Audio (on the film/tape, cassette, CD, or live).
Thanks!

The deadline for last year was May 13th, 2002, but this forum was down back then. Perhaps the information is useful for the new year!

I found this contest by accident. Bentley's were one of the most basic Super-8 Cameras ever made.
This Bentley Super-8 contest is similar to pixle-vision contests. Pixle Vision cameras actually use audio-cassette tape to record a few minutes of low-grade BW video. The Pixle-Vision cameras were made by fisher price for Toys By Us for kids, but has found a new home with the avante-garde "needs to get a life" filmmaker. (hehehehe)
The Bentley Camera is like a Pixle-Vision Camera, except it shoots super-8! Bentley's can be found on E-bay for like 5 or 10 bucks plus shipping.
Below is info for the Bentley Super-8 Film Festival along with a link...
http://www.ifckc.com/event/Bentley_1...tival_info.htm
The Bentley Super 8 Film Festival was conceived in 1995 when one of our members found a surplus of old Bentley Super 8 cameras at a photographic store.
The IFC purchased all they had (about 30 cameras) and gave a camera and a roll of film as part of the $35 entry fee to the Festival.
After the success of this festival,
the IFC decided to continue the event, but without benefit of the camera. (For this reason, the admission fee is now only $25). This fee will get you a roll of film, processing of the film and entrance into the festival.
How it works:
1. We give you a 50 foot roll of film, either black/white or color (approximately 3 minutes worth of footage)
2. You shoot the roll of film (editing in camera). It can be shot at any time during the year with any type of Super 8 camera. This is a film camera, not
to be confused with 8mm video or even 8mm film.
3. You return the roll of film by the deadline
4. We process the film
5. You get to see your film for the first time along with everyone else in the audience on the night of the festival
6. After the film is transferred to video, we return the film to you In addition, if you would like to
provide any type of audio accompaniment, you can submit an audiocassette, a CD or have music played live or even recite dialogue live. If you provide original music, we will be able to include it on the video compilation tape.
It?s that simple!
The deadline for submitting your completed film for this Winter?s festival is the Wednesday after Thanksgiving in November.
The festival will be held on December 18th.
If you would like to get your roll of film and sign up now, you can contact Karen Klichowski @ 816-213-3610, email your request to [email protected] or attend a regularly scheduled IFC meeting at the Westport Coffeehouse @ 7:30pm on Wednesday evenings.
